FAQs

What is a doggy life coach?
Simply put, a doggy life coach is an accountability partner for you and your dog.

In more detail, it’s someone you work with over time to create the consistent patterns, rules, and behaviors in your life that are required to make your pup the best version of his/herself.  As your doggy life coach, it’s my job to ensure you are working on the goal plan we created together with your personal goals in mind.  With dogs, and any animal, consistency is key.  What I’ve found most over the years of helping people with their dogs, is that the lack of consistency and continued work long term is what prevents both dog and person from living their best life.

Do I have to be local to work with you?
The best part about all of this, is that you can do it directly from the comfort of your own home, virtually.  Virtual doggy life coaching allows you to work with your dog in their own environment, allows me to see exactly how the dog behaves in their home and with their family, and gives you the ability to access my services from anywhere in the world with just a computer or phone and internet.

**However, I am available for a limited number of on-site clients.

What sort of tools and lessons will I learn?
I believe in the power of positive reinforcement and setting dogs up for success.  I also believe in the “Nothing in Life is Free” school of thought.  This means we will teach your dog what behaviors we want through repetition, positive reinforcement, and correction when needed. I do believe that dogs need to know when they are doing something we don’t want, in addition to the behaviors we do want.  This comes in the form of teaching them ‘no’, ‘off’, or in some cases, a squirt bottle.

What if I think my dog is aggressive or beyond help?
This is where the 15 minute discovery call can help us assess whether or not your dog needs more help than virtual accountability can offer.  Don’t let someone take your money claiming to be able to fix your dog online if they have {true} aggression, this is not something to take lightly.  I can help you determine what your best option is and help find local trainers.

Is a Doggy Life Coach right for me?

Yes! If you love your dog, but feel he could be better behaved, but also feel ‘too busy’ to take him to training classes; that’s where I come in.  I teach practical, integrative tools that can easily be taught while life carries on.  Paired with those tools is the accountability to make sure you are staying consistent, have someone to cheer you on, and help you when roadblocks occur.

In today’s society we are always busy.  Whether it’s running off to work, dropping kids off at school, helping kids with homework, or late nights at the office; we are constantly on the move.  We rarely have time to make ourselves dinner, let alone ‘train’ our dogs.  Yet, we love our dogs and need them around to make our lives so much fuller, happier, and entertaining.  Plus there’s that unconditional love they offer.  But, after a long day at work, or when the kids need to sit down to do school work, the last thing you need is your dog jumping on the furniture, stealing food from the kitchen table, jumping on yourself or the kids, or being just plain naughty.  I equip you to make your dog the best version of himself and build the bond you always dreamed of having.
